The Oracle Red Bull Racing team has revealed its upcoming car, but it’s not a Formula 1 racing car. It’s a new e-scooter.
The machine is called RBS #01, and is the result of a two-year collaboration between Red Bull Racing’s F1 engineers and manufacturer eBike. Nplus (Opens in a new tab). Despite its association with racing cars, this will not be the fastest e-scooter in the world when it launches next summer. The developers have instead focused on Cardiac transfusion device development (Opens in a new tab) Focusing on guidance. Although RBS is likely to be a rare sight on the streets due to its limited availability and high price tag.
Lightweight and fast
Judging by the stats, the RBS has a speed of 45 kilometers per hour (about 28 miles per hour) and a range of 60 kilometers (about 37 miles). While it has above average speed and range, it is slower compared to similar Kugoo Kirin G3 (Opens in a new tab)Scooter, for example. But the RRBS can accelerate much faster due to the scooter’s 80Nm of torque, or NM. The scooter is driven forward by a 750 Watt motor which in turn is powered by a 760 Watt battery. It will take five hours to fully charge.
What’s most interesting about RBS is its construction and the ingenuity of its handling. With an all-carbon fiber chassis, it weighs 23kg (just over 50lbs), so it’s a little heavy for a scooter. The weight maybe due to the size of the different components. The RBS comes with a ‘Oversize Deck and Wheel Package’, Although the site (Opens in a new tab) Doesn’t say how wide the deck is.
According to Red Bull Racing, the sports scooter’s “high performance tires” are made from a soft rubber compound that allows it to grip the road “like glue.” It measures 11 inches in diameter so you can easily roll the drill. Inside the wheels is a four-piston hydraulic brake system, so you can “stop like a racing car”.
Looking at the steering wheel, you’ll see a small LCD display that shows the speed, an LED on the front, and a small thumb throttle to the right. There are no extra cables, so you don’t have to deal with clutter.
Tough, but expensive
Check out RBS’ engineering page (Opens in a new tab)You will notice that Red Bull Racing has taken extra care to make sure the scooter can handle the rigors of the road. According to Red Bull Racing, it can jump, fall, and hit the ground with seemingly little damage. Even Red Bull Racing claims that RBS is “built to handle 3G loads”. We’ve reached out to find out exactly what this means. The term “3G” most likely refers to the level of gravitational force the RBS can withstand, making it a very powerful scooter. This story will be updated if we hear back.
All this can be yours for $6000. You can pre-order now on the Red Bull Racing website where you first have to pay $600 for the scooter. From there, you can pay off the rest of the $5,400 through an interest-free installment plan. As mentioned earlier, there will be a limited supply although it is unknown how much will be available.
It is definitely an investment for a high-end e-scooter like the RBS. If you want something that doesn’t break the bank and still performs high, be sure to check out Best Electric Scooter 2022 List.
