IT Industry Can’t Run Without VPN: Chairman PTA

A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecom was held under the chairmanship of Chairperson Palusha Khan.

While speaking in the meeting, Palusha Khan said that people are suffering from problems due to the disruption of the internet across the country, the employment of the young generation is connected to the internet. The whole situation will be placed before the Prime Minister.

Senator Kamran Murtaza said that providing internet is the constitutional responsibility of the federal government.

Senator Afnanullah says that the Ministry of Interior has written a letter to stop the illegal VPN. The mandate to stop the illegal VPN is the IT Ministry. Chairman PTA told about the VPN issue, people. The business is connected.

Chairman PTA Hafeezur Rehman has said that IT industry cannot run without VPN, common man needs VPN, someone is doing IT business and wants to not disturb the business, then VPN. Register, freelancers and companies need a VPN, VPN registration policy was made in 2016.

Hafeezur Rehman says that we have started re-registration of VPN, if the VPN is registered then the internet will never stop again, so far we have registered 25 thousand VPNs. Whenever the Internet has to be shut down, the industry suffers.

He said that if the VPN is registered, their internet will continue to work, PTA blocked 5 lakh immoral sites, last Sunday 2 crore Pakistanis tried to access immoral sites, PN is running now, not closed.

Member Legal Ministry of IT said that we were not asked about the issue of VPN shutdown.
