iCloud Photos will come to Windows 11

Microsoft has started rolling out a program iCloud Integration of photo library inside Windows 11in the form of an update to the Photos app.

The Advertising (Opens in a new tab) In the Windows Experience blog from Dave Grochocki, Principal Product Manager for Windows Inbox Publications, he follows the company’s initial principles Unveiling Feature at Surface event in October 2022.

Once users receive the update, they must download the iCloud for Windows app from the Microsoft Store to link their accounts.

Microsoft, Apple and closed ecosystems

Windows integrates with Apple’s own systems cloud storage The solution is certainly one of the first signs that the idea that Microsoft and Apple devices should be separate ecosystems is thawing.

As I mentioned before the edge (Opens in a new tab)iCloud Photo Library integration follows the emergence of Apple Music as an app in the Microsoft Store (although Windows users will have to wait until next year), and the original Apple TV app is also said to be coming soon in preview.

Microsoft claims that the decision to merge the two platforms was made with user experience in mind.

“We know that many Windows customers have photo and video collections on their sites Iphone (Opens in a new tab) They wish they were able to view it on their computer,” Grochocki wrote.

“The iCloud Photos integration will make it easier for those with an iPhone to directly access all their cherished memories in one organized place and is another step in our ongoing effort to make experiences on Windows 11 seamless.”

The new feature is similar to the modern Microsoft resolution To allow playback of image libraries Android phones to use with Microsoft 365 on the web. This integration works similarly, as an additional application is required to link image libraries across platforms.
