Shibli refutes Fawad’s claim, ‘Homemade ventilators not useful’
Shibli Faraz, who is a newly appointed Science and Technology Minister, he claimed that the locally produced ventilators are not useful in addition our country has a shortage of other resources such as oxygen also to deal with any critical situation amid the surging of the covid cases.
This statement of Shilbi refuted the saying of his predecessor Fawad Chaudhry; he said that in a cabinet recently that reshuffle, and made in the information minister.

Generally, a ventilator consists of 16 functions; however, the ventilators which are created at local level have only four, this thing he revealed after visiting NUST (the National University of Science and Technology) on Monday in Islamabad.
The minister stated that NRTC (the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation) and private organizations were also manufacturing the ventilators in our country.

56,000 Plus Farmers across Punjab Registered through Bardana App
Under the umbrella of ‘Digitization of Food Department Punjab,’ 56,997 farmers have been registered as of April 1st through Bardana App developed by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
Moreover, under this module, over 394, 092 tons of total Bardana has been issued and 75,216 tons of Wheat has been procured by Government from farmers across Punjab since April 1st this year.
This was informed in a recently held progress review meeting chaired by PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor. Director General IT Operations Faisal Yousaf and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.

e-Pay Punjab Achieves Another Milestone of Crossing 5 Million Transactions
e-Pay Punjab, a collaborative effort of the Finance Department of Punjab and Punjab Information Technology Board, is a leap forward to digitize collections from citizens as part of the larger exercise of digitizing the financial ecosystem of Punjab and improve financial inclusion. The collections through e-Pay Punjab have sky rocketed crossing 5 million online transactions and PKR 23 billion in 18 months since the launch. Out of this, Rs. 1 Billion was collected as online payment of Traffic Challan, Rs. 13 billion as Sales Tax, Rs. 5 billion as Token Tax and Rs. 2.6 billion as Property Tax from the 3.8 million e-Pay beneficiaries.
The system allows the citizens and businesses in Punjab to pay 20 taxes/levies of 9 different departments digitally from the convenience of their homes. e-Pay Punjab facilitates payments through multiple channels including Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, ATMs, Telecom agents network, TCS counters and OTC (Over the Counter) banking transaction. e-Pay Punjab app can be downloaded from the Play Store and Apple Store. Citizens are further facilitated by a 24/7 Support Helpline to resolve queries related to Online Payment of Taxes.
PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor stated that during Covid-19 pandemic, e-Pay punjab has played an important role in facilitating citizens through online payment of Token Tax, Property Tax, e-Challan, Traffic Challan minimising physical interaction with officials. Presently Excise & Taxation, Board of Revenue (BOR), Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Punjab Police, Industries, Irrigation, School Education, Labour & Human Resource Department and Transport Department are integrated with the system.

Prime Minister Imran Khan formed a five-member committee headed by Dr Sherry Mazari on the recommendation of the Attorney General. The committee includes Malika Bukhari, Senator Ali Zafar, Secretary MoIT and Chairman PTA. The committee will make its recommendations to the Prime Minister within 30 days.

To set up a special economic zone on 50 acres of land for IT and modern technology related industries.
Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Provincial Minister for Labor Ansar Majeed Khan chaired a meeting in the committee room of PCSIR Lab to finalize the agreement between Punjab Workers Welfare Board and Comsat University.
Fawad Chaudhry’s proposal to create a special economic zone for IT and modern technology related industries on 50 acres of land was approved. The Federal Minister said that the proceeds from the Special Economic Zone would be spent on the development of the University and its students. The economic zone will not only help in industrial development but will also create employment opportunities for which we will talk to the Economic Council of Pakistan and the Punjab Department of Industry and Commerce.
Ansar Majeed proposed to increase the quota for the children of laborers in Comsat University on which it was agreed to settle the matter after further discussions. He said that the Workers Welfare Board was providing education to the children of the workers in the best institutions. More than Rs 32 crore is being given annually to the students studying at Comsat University on workers quota.
He said that the administration of Comsat University and the Labor Department would decide on the quota of workers and the number of scholarships. All processes are being computerized for transparency in Talent Scholarships. According to Imran Khan’s vision, they are trying to make life easier for the workers.
