Govt Approved Proposal to Create Economic Zone For IT Industries

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry approved a proposal

To set up a special economic zone on 50 acres of land for IT and modern technology related industries.

Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Provincial Minister for Labor Ansar Majeed Khan chaired a meeting in the committee room of PCSIR Lab to finalize the agreement between Punjab Workers Welfare Board and Comsat University.

Fawad Chaudhry’s proposal to create a special economic zone for IT and modern technology related industries on 50 acres of land was approved. The Federal Minister said that the proceeds from the Special Economic Zone would be spent on the development of the University and its students. The economic zone will not only help in industrial development but will also create employment opportunities for which we will talk to the Economic Council of Pakistan and the Punjab Department of Industry and Commerce.

Ansar Majeed proposed to increase the quota for the children of laborers in Comsat University on which it was agreed to settle the matter after further discussions. He said that the Workers Welfare Board was providing education to the children of the workers in the best institutions. More than Rs 32 crore is being given annually to the students studying at Comsat University on workers quota.

He said that the administration of Comsat University and the Labor Department would decide on the quota of workers and the number of scholarships. All processes are being computerized for transparency in Talent Scholarships. According to Imran Khan’s vision, they are trying to make life easier for the workers.
