COVID Vaccination Center with Booster Shots Opens at Arfa Software Technology Park

As per the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Covid Vaccination Center has reopened at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) for the employees of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), tenants of ASTP and their families.

The center is particularly offering COVID-19 Booster Shots to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all amid the fifth wave of Covid-19. Presently, Pfizer Vaccine, Moderna Vaccine and CanSino Vaccine are available at the center. The vaccination is administered by doctors appointed by Punjab Health Department, Government of Punjab.

Earlier, Punjab IT & Higher Education Minister Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz had inaugurated the Covid-19 Vaccination Center at ASTP last year. Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor, Commissioner Lahore Captain (Retired) Muhammad Usman, Additional Commissioner Amman Qidwai, PITB DG IT-Operations (IT-Ops) Faisal Yousaf and other senior officials were present at the inauguration.

A joint initiative of PITB (IT- OPS & HR Wing), it is part of the larger government drive to accelerate Covid-19 vaccination. Employees and tenants are encouraged to register themselves on 1166 or at https://nims.nadra.gov.pk before walking in for the vaccination.

PITB – P@SHA sign MoU to promote IT Industry in Pakistan

PITB – P@SHA sign MoU to promote Public-Private partnership by engaging local IT industry in Public Sector Digitalization

As part of the vision articulated by Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor, PITB is actively working towards promoting Public-Private Partnership. One of the initiatives is PITB’s ‘Partners in Development’ program that aims at supporting the local software industry by engaging them in public sector software development work with special emphasis on digitally powered public services. In this regard, PITB and Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT & ITeS (P@SHA) signed an MoU today at Arfa Software Technology Park to promote collaboration between public and private sectors.

The MoU was signed by Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor and Chairman P@SHA Barkan Saeed. According to the MoU, both the organizations will support each other as partners in the digitalization drive of the Punjab Government, and explore avenues of potential growth for the IT & IT enabled Services (ITeS) Industries. On this occasion Public-Private Partners Portal was also launched where local IT companies can register and share their ideas on collaborative transformation. PITB’s DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, GM IT Burhan Rasool, Founder & CEO DPL Syed Ahmed, President & CEO of InfoTech Group Naseer Akhtar and other senior officials were also present at the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor said, “Both PITB and P@SHA are focused on collaboration to digitalize the governance ecosystem in Punjab by leveraging and sharing expertise in IT & ITeS. Through Public- Private Partnership, PITB will support the local software industry by engaging them in public sector software development projects”

Chairman P@SHA Barkan Saeed stated, “PITB is playing a vital role in the digitalization of Punjab and in promoting public-private partnership. P@SHA will encourage its members to actively engage with PITB through PITB’s ‘Partners in Development’ initiative. Both PITB and P@SHA will also work towards deliberating policy interventions necessary to foster the IT Industry in Pakistan”.

PITB signs MoU with Punjab Information Commission to develop Centralized Management Information System

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Information Commission (PIC) signed an MoU today at Arfa Software Technology Park. The MoU, signed by PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor and PIC Chief Information Commissioner Mehboob Qadir Shah, will automate paper-based PIC processes and devise a web based portal namely Centralized Management Information System (CMIS). PITB DG IT-OPS Faisal Yousaf, PIC Registrar Qadeer Ahmad and other senior officials of the two organizations were present at the occasion.

According to the MoU, the Centralized Management Information System (CMIS) will enhance the departmental capacity and provide a large number of confirmations against complaints and queries in a specific time period of resolution. Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor stated that in order to automate PIC processes, a technology-based solution will be devised. The system will eliminate labor-intensive components and will not only maintain an updated and accurate electronic repository of information but will also comprise up-to-date records.

PIC Chief Information Commissioner Mehboob Qadir Shah said that CMIS will be interlinked with government departments to enhance work proficiency and response to the concerns relevant to their departments. PITB developed System will enable PIC to enhance its role across Punjab as well as monitor their performance and take action against those failing to comply, he added.
