Porsche has entered into a somewhat unexpected collaboration with seat manufacturer RECARO to produce a gaming chair based on previous sports cars.
Gaming chairs are notoriously lacking in ergonomics as manufacturers tend to favor flashy looks over comfort. And playing or working for hours on end, you will definitely start to feel some pain in your lower back. To address this head on, the Porsche Gaming Chair comes with an “anti-sub seat slope,” meaning the cushion sits at an upward angle, and “firm lumbar support.” All of this rests on a lightweight aluminum base so players can sit comfortably on the chair and not worry about slipping.
Porsche adds that the chair is made with “high-quality upholstery foam and breathable fabrics” for a comfortable seat all year round; Definitely a welcome feature for those hot summer days. And the last notable feature is the 5D armrest that can be adjusted in a number of ways to get the perfect fit. Putting it all together, you can practice sitting upright without having to deal with tingling in your back. It’s always a good idea to get up and stretch your legs a bit after hours of sitting (speaking from experience here).

True to its name, the Porsche Gaming Chair Limited Edition will actually be limited to 911 units. This seemingly random number is most likely a reference to the car’s latest model, the Porsche 911 GT3R. Pre-orders are available now for a whopping $2,499. The shipping date is set for March 15th.
If the Porsche gaming chair looks familiar to you, that’s because it’s almost identical Exo Platinum Sky from RECARO. According to the product page, both chairs are made of the same breathable fabrics, have the same 5D armrest, the same aluminum base, and a load capacity of up to 150kg (330lbs). The only real differences seem to be the exterior design: the Porsche gaming chair matches the look of the 911 GT3R and even the car’s logo is embroidered on the headrest.
The Porsche Chair appears to be a more expensive American version of the Exo Platinum Sky. This chair will run you €1,249 (about $1,350 USD).
