After 10 years, FromSoftware has finally revealed its long-awaited sci-fi sequel

Before Elden Ring, before Sekiro, before Bloodborne, before Dark Souls, even before Demon’s Souls, developer FromSoftware was known for an entirely different series: Armored Core. If you haven’t heard of it, it might be because it’s been ten years since the last game was released.

After a long, long, long wait, FromSoftware has finally revealed the Armored Core 6 Fires from Rubicon, and it looks amazing.

Set in the distant future, in the previous games you played the role of a mercenary, piloting an armored mech basic for different warring companies. Later games focused more on multiplayer battles, pitting you alongside a group of other players to fight in large bot-filled battles. But previous games had single-player campaigns full of demanding mecha combat.

It’s hard to tell for sure from the Armored Core 6 reveal demo, but the game seems to be returning to its single-player roots. The cinematic atmosphere certainly doesn’t house armored cores en masse.

There are few details about the game, we know it is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X | S and PC and will be released in 2023. Also, according to the Armored Core website (Opens in a new tab), and remember this is all through Google Translate, you will be able to assemble your mecha and take the machine to the open battlefields. So far, the armored core.

We’ll learn more about the game in the coming months, especially since Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is due out next year.
