Plan9 launches ‘Whizkids & Summer Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2019’ to Connect students with the tech-driven world

To place the students in the preliminary stages of entrepreneurship by workshops and trainings, ‘Whizkids & Summer Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2019′ has been launched as part of a collaboration of Punjab Information Technology Board`s Project Plan 9 and Information Technology University (ITU), the Punjab. The core purpose of Whizkids is to enable children discover their talents and develop their skills in the fast paced, tech-driven world.

The theme of the three-week long summer camp started on June 24, at Arfa Software Technology Park, is celebrating diversity both in terms of age and social stratification. Packed with interesting and educative workshops, it also offers exciting activities to students from ages 8-18. The coaching and guidance given during this summer camp would help the children to catch up with the global technology trends and identify their future paths.

With special focus on STEM learning, the courses offered will have a blend of technology and entrepreneurship. The courses include Scratch, Robotics, Snap Circuit, Graphic Designing, Marketing and App Development, etc. Additionally, Creative Content Writing will be offered to enhance the writing skills of children. Punjab Whizkids 2019 are divided into two groups of children. One group have children with ages from 8-13 years and the second with ages 14-18 years.

The innovatively designed summer program being organized with the support of PITB`s HR wing, aims at delivering and nurturing future STEM experts, helps our youth chart their future and has, since its commencement, offered workshops ranging from IT based learning to personal development and confidence building.

Dr. Umar Saif – The New Chairman of MIT Enterprise Forum of Pakistan

The new Chairman of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Pakistan (MITEFP) is Dr. Umar Saif

The now Vice Chancellor Information Technology University Lahore (ITU) and the Chairman of PITB, and he being the second elected Chairman in the past eight years from the time the forum was started.

MITEFP’s main focus is the improvement of the economy of the Pakistani people via the Entrepreneurship Promotion for Pakistan which is in line with the MITEF global mission which is the development of technology oriented companies through executive education programs where by networking, leadership opportunities, life-long connections to MIT are provided by the Forum while displaying MIT’s role in entrepreneurship in the world wide communities.

While talking about his plans, Dr. Umar Saif told that he will be focusing on the following areas in the coming months;

  • First would be the strengthening of the Business Acceleration Program (BAP). There is a higher possibility that the training process will be harsh, and discipline will be the key factor.
  • Secondly, exploring a program to incubate spin-offs from within established tech companies i.e. program for corporate entrepreneurship.

Another focus area would be MIT 100K-style platform for match-making of teams and refining of ideas before BAP.

Umar Saif also stated that he along with his team would be holding talks, seminars, workshops around entrepreneurship, science and technology.

 

Lets Participate in ITU’s Young Innovator Competition to Win Funding and Get Mentorship

ITU Telecom World is an annual event that held place in different venue every year. The purpose of the event is to introduce together everyone through the public and private sectors to investors, experts, and entrepreneurs, businesses to support ICT innovations for the growth of economy and social good and groom the world sooner.

What is the ITU Telecom World Young Innovators Competition?

The basic purpose of the competition is to underline creative ideas on how ICTs can support to keep people safe in conflict. Creative ideas can work on multiple forms. They can concentrate on prevention of conflict, betterment of safety and security reconnecting communities or peace building among their topics.

Rules and Restrictions:

The candidates must be between 18 and 30 and can have either a properly managed startup or the idea for the new one.

What Do You Get?

To winners will join ITU Telecom World 2015 in Hungry, Budapest October 12-15, 2015 to highlight their ideas, perform in workshops, get advantage from a year of ongoing mentorship, and win seed funding.
