Something fishy is afoot in Splatoon 3’s upcoming Big Run event

It’s time for Splatoon 3 players to gather for some Salmonid scattering, as Nintendo has announced the dates for their next Big Run co-op event.

The Big Run will take place from December 10-12 and see Splatoon 3Splatsville has been overrun by Salmonid, the hybrid fish creatures previously seen in the game’s current co-op mode Salmon Run.

Although few details have been given about the actual contents of the special mode, there is a lot that can be gleaned from the promotional images that appear on Nintendo’s Twitter page.

Where Salmon Run offers similar modes to its capture-the-flag scenario, pitting up to four players against hordes of Salmonid as they quest to retrieve golden eggs, Big Run’s goal appears to be a little different.

The promotional images in Nintendo’s official advertisement depict the squid king holding a golden salmonid. This may allude to a different trophy or trophy in the game, perhaps with only one for each team of four raising the stakes that much.

We know Wahoo World is the first area in Splatsville you must defend from a Salmonid invasion, and players will be able to join their co-op party starting December 10th for just a few short days.

Big Run will see the first of Splatoon 3’s Chill Season 2022 premieres, the rest of which is teased at Upcoming patch notes (Opens in a new tab). Judging from these, some of the major highlights include fifty new items to find in the shop, three new weapon types, and a new level from Salmon Run titled Marooner’s Bay.
