while we wait patiently The Witcher Season 3There’s some good news and some potential bad news for fans of the fantasy series: Netflix has renewed the show for a fourth season, but star Henry Cavill won’t be returning as Geralt of Rivia.
according to Netflix ad (Opens in a new tab)Liam Hemsworth – perhaps best known as Jill Hawthorne in the Hunger Games series – would step in for the role. This change is just the only information we have in Season 4 at the moment.
“My journey with Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and unfortunately I will be putting my medal and swords on for Season 4,” the departing Cavill said in a statement. “In my stead, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take over the cloak of the White Wolf.”
“As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with respect for the time I’ve spent portraying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam take on this most wonderful and subtle man. Liam, my good sir, this character has wonderful depth to him. Enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
“As a Witcher fan, I am very excited about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” Hemsworth added. “Henry Cavill Geralt has been wonderful, and I am honored that he handed me the reins and allowed me to take the blades of the white wolf in the next chapter of his adventure.”
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of you for years and have been inspired by what you gave to this lovable character. I might have some big shoes to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”

You can of course find reactions of all kinds to the news on social media, but it’s probably best to hold judgment on the switch until Season 4 actually comes out – although it’s fair to say Cavill was great in the role and would be tough to replace.
In an ideal world, the casting selection would have remained constant, but there’s no reason why Hemsworth couldn’t also impress Geralt. We’ve recently seen deliberate changes to the casting at HBO’s Dragon House Another epic fantasy series developed by a loyal fan following that shows they can work if done right.
Then there is a doctor who is of course who recently said goodbye to Jodi Whitaker as its main star. The difference here is that making the changes is built into the show’s narrative, but again proof that they don’t have to eliminate the series’ momentum.
We’ll have to wait a while to see how Hemsworth does though. Presumably, filming has yet to begin for Season 4 of The Witcher, and there is no indication that it will begin soon either. We are looking forward to a 2024 release as soon as possible.
Netflix hopes the change from Cavill to Hemsworth won’t have any impact on the show’s popularity, one of its biggest successes. crossover The Witcher: The Origin of Blood It will debut on Christmas Day and should keep fans going until the third season drops sometime next year.
