Have you always wanted to work for Pixar? Now is your chance to prove that you have what it takes

AMD and Pixar are joining forces once again for this year’s RenderMan Challenge, the pair announced.

The challenge is that artists, graphic designers, and other content creators bring their cinematic visions to life with Pixar. visual effects and animation software rendering.

Powered by the company’s EPYC server 3D V-Cache processors and technology on Microsoft Azure platform, Creator Cloud will allow competitors to showcase designs using high-performance slides for the first time.

Rise to the challenge

But the challenge, sponsored by the likes of ILM, Adobe Substance 3D and Nvidia, isn’t just an opportunity to take a momentous look at the artist’s work, with James Knight, director of media and entertainment at AMD hailing the team as a way to make “this competition more accessible to many, allowing They can design and create at amazing speed, wherever inspiration comes from.”

This year’s theme is ‘NASA Exploration’ – undoubtedly inspired by Pixar’s latest space cinema outing, Light year. Challengers can make use of a range of scientifically accurate 3D models, from telescopes to planets, courtesy of the US Space Agency.

“With each RenderMan challenge, it is amazing to see how the posts become more and more complex and complex each time,” said Dylan Sisson, RenderMan Digital Artist at Pixar and one of the 10 judges on the panel.

“With the advancements we are seeing in hardware and software, this now allows individual artists to create images of ever-increasing complexity and sophistication. It is a fantastic opportunity for competitors to unleash their creative vision using these state-of-the-art technologies.”

Along with the partnership announcement, AMD, which recently made waves with AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Wizard, has unveiled a new movie detailing how the company is working with Pixar and NASA to make this year’s RenderMan Challenge “easier and more inspiring” than ever before.
