You’ll soon have to update Zoom often

Zoom has announced that users will need to update their software more frequently.

in his update support page (Opens in a new tab)the company has identified the oldest version of the software a user can use to log in and join meetings, known as the minimum version.

Users with older build numbers will not be able to use the desktop client, and will have to update or use the web client instead. Currently, the minimum requirement for Zoom is 5.3.0 for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices.

If you are already using the Fast Track auto update version, you will likely be on the latest version 5.12.2, which became available on October 10, 2022.

Slow Track accounts are also likely to be at 5.12.2 as of now, although the update only became available on this channel on October 27, 2022. Zoom says Slow Track updates will generally happen every 1-2 months, and may ignore some versions and Move to a newer version.

Then there are users who have disabled automatic updates. They’ll get prompts to update every now and then – as is, the current router is for version 5.11.0 on all devices.

Zoom has a long history of regular updates as the company battles security flaws in an effort to make its services among the best on offer. Recently, it was announced Zoom and Google Meet will gain interoperabilityallowing users from opposing platforms to join calls in their preferred environment.
