Xiaomi 13 Ultra can compete with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for cameras

Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are expected to launch soon, but it seems that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra may arrive soon as well, and this may be worth the wait, as the latest leak indicates that it may compete with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for photography.

According to Digital Chat Station – a leaker with a proven track record – posted on China’s Weibo (Opens in a new tab) (via NotebookCheck (Opens in a new tab)), Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have four cameras on the back. That’s more than most phones and matches the Galaxy S22 Ultra – and what we’ve come to expect from the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Obviously, one of these cameras will use a large one-inch sensor — like the awesome Xiaomi 12S Ultra — which isn’t something Samsung is likely to match. While sensor size is not the only consideration in cameras, it can have a significant impact on image quality.

Apparently, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will also feature an “anti-shake module” according to a machine-translated version of the post, which some sites have interpreted to mean gimbal stabilization. In short, it looks like this phone will offer better image stabilization than most phones.

We do not know much about Xiaomi 13 Ultra, but it is likely that it will not land until after Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, as these two were teased by Xiaomi itself, and it was expected that it would land on December 1, before the launch was delayed.

As for when it will be released now, NotebookCheck claims (Opens in a new tab) December 7 and 8 have been leaked as possible dates, though it’s not clear where that information came from.

We certainly won’t be waiting long, since Xiaomi has listed the two phones on Tmall (Opens in a new tab) website. Apparently there have been photos too for a while, which have been spotted before @tweet (Opens in a new tab)although it appears to have since been removed.

There are a few more details worth mentioning, as Xiaomi has reportedly confirmed that the standard Xiaomi 13 will have a 1080p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while PriceBaba (Opens in a new tab) It claims that both models will be available with a choice of 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM, along with 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Analysis: Three phones to challenge Samsung

Xiaomi’s upcoming line of smartphones could provide some direct competition with Samsung, as the Xiaomi 13 is likely to be positioned as a competitor to the Galaxy S23, the 13 Pro as a competitor to the S23 Plus, and the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is set to compete with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Xiaomi also has the advantage of releasing at least some of these phones before Samsung, as we don’t expect to see the Galaxy S23 line until around February 2023.

However, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra seems to be the most exciting of the three, and we are not sure when it will be launched. Plus, even the other two models are only about to land in China — so a global launch might not even happen de abuses Samsung Galaxy S23 series on the shelves.

However, with all of these phones likely to land before too long, we may be entering another exciting period for phones as these all look like contenders for our best phones list, with Ultra models in both lines likely to make our best camera phones list too.
