Venmo’s update helps you spread holiday cheer with a new charity section

In the spirit of the festive season, Venmo It is updating its mobile app to make it easier to donate to local charities.

By first clicking on the Venmo app’s search bar, you’ll see a new selection titled “Donate.” There, you will meet a wide range of popular local charities. Specific categories also exist, including, but not limited to, Animals, Environment, Homelessness, and Veterans. All of the charities in Venmo’s new division are approved by parent company Paypal, but we still recommend doing a little homework and making sure you donate to a good place. Some charities, such as the Salvation Army, have a blue check mark. This means that the charity has submitted all the necessary paperwork to Paypal, proving its legitimacy. From what we can tell, most charities are not verified.

The update is currently available for download on both iOS (Opens in a new tab) And the android (Opens in a new tab). And over the coming weeks, Venmo will be adding a feature to share donations made with your friends as a way to encourage them to do the same.

More changes

In addition to a new charity section, Venmo is redesigning its peer-to-peer payment screen with some quality of life changes that make it easier to send (or better receive) money.

Now, you’ll see the profile picture of the person you’re sending money to instead of just the name, and the dollar amount will appear in a larger font for easier viewing. Sending and requesting money will be made easier with a new Plus button next to the recipient’s profile picture. By clicking on the button, you can add more people for one big transaction instead of doing it one by one.
