e-Pay Punjab Revenue Collection Crosses PKR 60 Billion+

e-Pay Punjab, a joint initiative of Punjab Information Technology Board and Punjab Finance Department, has collected a staggering PKR 60 Billion+ revenue against 12.3 Million+ transactions to date.

This was informed during a progress review meeting in which Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor stated that e-pay Punjab continues to facilitate the citizens by enabling them to pay taxes online through a number of payment channels.

It was also informed that e-Pay Punjab app has been downloaded 933K+ times. PITB DG IT-Operations Faisal Yousaf and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.

Offering online payments of 21 taxes/levies for 10 departments, e-Pay Punjab has collected a total revenue of PKR 35.25 Billion through Sales Tax, PKR 10.5 Billion through Token Tax, PKR 8.25 Billion through Property Tax, and around 3 Billion through Traffic Challans.

Automation of online tax payment system through e-Pay Punjab has made government collections easier by making the payments process prompt and hassle-free through a number of payment channels.

e-Pay Punjab Collects record Rs.5 billion Revenue in July 2021

e-Pay Punjab achieved yet another milestone in July 2021 by collecting a staggering revenue of PKR 4.95 Billion+ through 1 Million+ transactions. The highest amount of revenue was collected through Token Tax which alone was PKR 2 Billion+.

This was shared during a progress review meeting during which Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Azfar Manzoor stated that e-pay is facilitating the citizens especially during the ongoing pandemic. Citizens are able to make tax payments from the comfort of their homes while practicing social distancing.

e-Pay Punjab is a flagship project of PITB launched in collaboration with Punjab Finance Department. Automation of the online tax payment system through e-Pay Punjab has improved government collections, plugged leakages, increased financial inclusion and brought transparency.

e-Pay Punjab, a collaborative effort of the Finance Department of Punjab and Punjab Information Technology Board, is a leap forward to digitize collections from citizens as part of the larger exercise of digitizing the financial ecosystem of Punjab and improve financial inclusion. The collections through e-Pay Punjab have sky rocketed crossing 5 million online transactions and PKR 23 billion in 18 months since the launch. Out of this, Rs. 1 Billion was collected as online payment of Traffic Challan, Rs. 13 billion as Sales Tax, Rs. 5 billion as Token Tax and Rs. 2.6 billion as Property Tax from the 3.8 million e-Pay beneficiaries.

The system allows the citizens and businesses in Punjab to pay 20 taxes/levies of 9 different departments digitally from the convenience of their homes. e-Pay Punjab facilitates payments through multiple channels including Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, ATMs, Telecom agents network, TCS counters and OTC (Over the Counter) banking transaction. e-Pay Punjab app can be downloaded from the Play Store and Apple Store. Citizens are further facilitated by a 24/7 Support Helpline to resolve queries related to Online Payment of Taxes.

PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor stated that during Covid-19 pandemic, e-Pay punjab has played an important role in facilitating citizens through online payment of Token Tax, Property Tax, e-Challan, Traffic Challan minimising physical interaction with officials. Presently Excise & Taxation, Board of Revenue (BOR), Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Punjab Police, Industries, Irrigation, School Education, Labour & Human Resource Department and Transport Department are integrated with the system.

‘e-Pay Punjab’ make 4.3 million transactions and proves a game changer

The board announced that e-Pay Punjab is proved as a game-changer because of the collection amount which is nearly about 20 Billion Rupees through 4.2 million transactions.

Due to the e-Pay Punjab app’s unique feature of payment methods; four types: Internet banking, mobile banking, OTC (over the counter), ATM (Automated Teller Machine) banking transaction for the users. Under the instruction and guidance of the Finance Department of Punjab, this solution was created by the Punjab IT Board (PITB). If we talk about its integration, then let me tell you that it is integrated with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and one link for the interconnectivity for the whole of Pakistan’s banking network.

 

For paying tax dues, anyone will have to access the e-Pay Punjab app or website for generating 17 digit PSID number. Each PSID number you will get different against each of your transactions. No matter, which channel of payment you are going to use: Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, OTC, or ATM banking transaction you use for paying tax dues.

 

As technology and digital tools are increasing day by day. PITB is also implementing different ways to make easy accessibility of such tools and for increasing the productivity for increasing productivity specifically for the unusual times of COVID. Furthermore, such implementation without using the physical infrastructure saves millions of rupees and a lot of time as well.
