Porsche’s new Dolby Atmos amplifier uses the existing car exhaust for decoration

Soundbars are usually elegant speakers that sit unobtrusively in front of or below the TV screen, but luxury car brand Porsche is turning that idea on its head at $12,000 / £9,100 / AU$19,955 Dolby Atmos speaker It is impossible to ignore.

This is not only because the new 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro (Opens in a new tab) It delivers an in-your-face sound — although based on its specs, it looks like it’s going to do a solid job in this department. No – this amp will turn heads because it’s made with an actual Porsche 992 GT3 (992) exhaust system.

Disappointingly, the sound won’t be blasted through the exhaust pipe as we had hoped – more practical speakers will handle that aspect of things – but that doesn’t stop these Porsche tweeters from being one of the most unique designs we’ve seen yet.

It’s Not Just Fashion – Supports 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro 4K audio compatible HDMI ports if you want a wired audio system, while those who prefer a wireless setup can take advantage of it Air Play 2 Support and Google Chromecast built-in. Plus, if you have a set of Porsche 911 speakers — or plan to get others in the future — this model can sync up with others to create a more powerful sound system.

But while Porsche cars are known for their superior performance and power, the same can’t be said for their loudspeakers. Certainly, this model supports the latter Dolby AtmosThe sound is immersive and includes a 2.1.2 channel setup that can put it to good use, but compared to the best speakers out there, it’s far from being in the first position.

Those who want a super powerful acoustic setup may instead prefer one of the The best soundbar there: Samsung HW-Q990B. Launched in May, this multi-speaker setup, priced at $1,899 / £1599 / AU$2199 (but we’ve seen it on sale for less), pushes the definition of a loudspeaker – it features a band, subwoofer, and also as rear speakers – but when you do, It raises its performance above what a single speaker can achieve. Despite their remarkably small size, Samsung’s 11.1.4-channel speakers deliver an impressive and immersive performance.

Even if you choose something more budget friendly – like stepping down Samsung HW-Q930B or 2021 Samsung HW-Q800A – You can still find audio systems that leave Porsche in the dust (at least from an audio perspective).

However, this limited edition speaker isn’t built for audiophiles – it’s more made for audiophiles. It’s not just about getting a device that looks good, it’s about getting a statement device/artwork that shows your affection for Porsche cars.

If you’re keen to snap up this one-of-a-kind strip, you might want to act fairly quickly – Porsche makes only 500 of them, eleven pre-orders have been sold, and they will be sold out. The car brand may bring it back in the future with a slightly modified design, as it did with its previous woofers, but once that exact model is gone, it’s gone.
