Patreon has officially launched its home country video hosting The platform – a year after it was first revealed.
Patreon Video is designed to give creators more control over their production and help increase fan engagement.
According to the popular membership platform, “Patreon Video is the first video product tailored to the needs of creators and focusing squarely on the relationship between a creator and a fan.”
What is Patreon Video and what does it offer creators?
Patreon Video is a video player and player for the platform. Prior to the release, content creators on the site had to use third-party video tools such as YouTube and Vimeo. This comes with its own problems – not the least of which is the inefficiency of using multiple platforms.
What makes Patreon video setup different is that it is completely ad-free. The company claims that this allows monetization and sharing of content that the community actually wants, rather than what is dictated by obscure algorithms.
The service allows users to upload videos of unlimited length, create custom thumbnails, save playback states, and even put picture-in-picture when viewed on mobile devices. Videos can also be sent via iOS Airplaywith cast chrome Scheduled support for future update.
And that’s not all that members expect. “Over the next year, we will continue this investment by improving our creation tools podcasting features, and new community experiences,” Patreon said.
Members looking to expand their community will now have access to data-driven audience insights. Custom video previews are now also available – an opportunity to attract new fans by giving them a glimpse of what they can expect if they join.
