Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU Could Disappointingly Arrive Late 2023

Regarding NVIDIA RTX 4060We haven’t heard much on the vineyard about this GPU, but now a detailed graphics card rumor has surfaced — though we’ve treated some of those rumors with more skepticism than usual.

As tagged by @harukaze5719, a regular contributor to hardware leaks on Twitter, this allegedly comes from Lenovo’s gaming desktop product planning manager in China, a certain “Wolstame” sharing information about the RTX 4060’s performance and release date via Weibo (Opens in a new tab). And if you thought this affordable Lovelace GPU was close at hand, think again — although there’s no speculation yet about it. Photographers card Kind of tells its own story in this regard.

According to Wolstame, the RTX 4060 will arrive in “618” which refers to June 18, 2023, the date of China’s main shopping festival.

As for the rumored performance, Wolstame states they’re just guessing, but we have to expect something on the field. RTX 3070. At the same time, they mention that the 4060 is 20% faster than the RTX 3060, which is not the equivalent of the 3070, being somewhat short – so this part of the rumor is rather head-scratching (apply a ton of extra spice, in other words).

Power consumption is supposed to be lower than the RTX 3060 at 150W.

Price-wise, the RTX 4060 will be about the same asking price as the RTX 3060 Ti, the leaker assures — at least that’s how we read it (some wording and translation leave room for doubt).

If we’re following recommended pricing, the RTX 3060 Ti retails for $399 in the US against MSRP (£369 in the UK).

Analysis: Nothing in sight within Lovelace’s reach, then?

The most interesting part of this rumor is that the release date, and June 2023 is supposed to be the launch target not only for the Chinese market, but elsewhere globally.

We’re still seven months away, so it’ll be a disappointing blow to those who might have been hoping to get their hands on an RTX 4060 sooner rather than later. For now – if this rumor is true – it looks like we’ll be stuck with the high-end RTX 4080 and 4090, and then possibly the RTX 4070 Ti (which is said to be the previously unlaunched RTX 4080 12GB, of course).

In terms of price We don’t count on the RTX 4070 Ti being all that affordableespecially when you look at the price tags pinned to a file RTX 4080 Models. So affordable Lovelace GPUs don’t seem that far on the horizon, in short – the only hope is that we get a vanilla RTX 4070 before too long, and this is thrown at a reasonable price. For now though, Nvidia seems to be aggressively pursuing a “layered” strategy that we’ve heard about for a while, as people looking for cheap graphics card They are simply pushed to buy the RTX 3000 model (as there is still excess inventory with these).

In fact, that’s what Wolstame is suggesting – the leaker seems to be pretty bad about the RTX 4060’s prospects, so rather than wait that long for a GPU to show up, Wolstame recommends buying an Ampere model (the RTX 3080, in fact) – although it’s supposed to RTX 3070 is performance equivalent to RTX 4060).

Speaking of this alleged performance, it has been phrased in terms of sheer conjecture–and confusingly placed, as Wolstame appears to offer two different conjectures, in fact,–all in all, we think it’s probably too early in the doors to draw any vague conclusions about strength. RTX 4060.

However, it should be noted that the RTX 4060 will benefit from DLSS3For some games, this will raise their performance levels compared to the RTX 3000 models. (Wolstame is likely talking about raster performance as well, though it’s not made clear – so the ray tracing gains may be more significant for the RTX 4060 as well.)

For now, then, let’s treat this rumor dump with the caution it really deserves, but we can’t say we’re surprised to hear that the RTX 4060 might still be a long way off — though admittedly we didn’t quite think that far until next June. Time will tell.
