Microsoft’s Bing AI Chatbot is actually luring users away from Google

Microsoft has been pushing hard and fast to get the ‘new and improved’ AI-powered Bing to consumers and it looks like all that hard work and (light enticement to users) may be paying off. As of now, it appears that Bing is gaining new users while Google is experiencing a slight decline.

according to ReutersAnd Microsoft is seeing an increase of about 16% in page visits since Bing launched its new ChatGPT-powered “Bing” experience. Microsoft confirmed earlier this month that it has now reached a level Estimated 100 million active users And that number is likely to continue its upward momentum as more people get comfortable with — or at least cautiously learn about — AI-powered chatbots.

Microsoft launched improved Bing in early February and has since seen a 15.8% increase in page visits according to the data, which may indicate little success in Microsoft’s painstaking journey trying to lure users away from Google and its absolute dominance in the search engine field.

Analysis: We don’t need to get Google out from behind the fold just yet

Reuters reports that the decline in Google’s numbers is around 1% for the same time period and that’s obviously not a huge blow, but it’s a huge number of people given Google’s massive popularity. We can see this trend in terms of mobile downloads as well, with Bing seeing eight times more downloads compared to pre-GPT times, while Google is down 2%.

We can see from this that there is a slow, small shift between the normal dynamics of the two search engines, though we wouldn’t rush to call it “the death of Google” any time soon. Microsoft is enjoying this newfound interest in its product (a refreshing change from its annoying, almost pathetic banners in Edge that tell you not to download Chrome) and saw its own series of issues with Bing AI before it reached its current level of popularity. So, it’s safe to say that Google may have to run through AI-related speed bumps as well before it catches up.

Aside from that, Google hasn’t taken things lying down! The company just launched Bard, its chatbot, and has big plans to integrate it with other products like Google Workspaces. Bard performed well First hands-on product Upon launch, it will hopefully rise to the occasion to find its footing in the world of artificial intelligence.
