Better late than never As they say: Microsoft is testing a new screen recording tool to capture on-screen content Windows 11 operating system. The long-awaited gadget will make its home snip tool.
Prior to this, people would usually use the Xbox Game Bar’s capture feature but it didn’t provide much control over what or how you could record. What is most interesting in Next feature (Opens in a new tab) is that users will now have that much-needed control. Like the capture tool, you can select parts of the screen or a specific application to focus on before recording, saving you a lot of time while editing.
Currently, the feature is only available through the Windows Insider Program Dev channel. It also rolls in waves, so not everyone will get it at first. When you get it, the snippet will have a new record button next to Snip. You can see a preview of the video you just created before saving it or sharing it with others.
Bug fix
Microsoft acknowledges that the tool is small bugs in its current state. The ad states that there is a slight delay between clicking “Start” and when the actual recording begins. And there are obviously moments when the Snipping Tool window does not return after “Starting a new snip…” Microsoft asks users to report any new Snipping Tool errors via vidb (Opens in a new tab)a (Opens in a new tab)ck hub (Opens in a new tab).
Speaking of bugs, Windows 11 has new patches available from the Insider Program that we have to mention. They are divided Separate preview builds: Build 22621.1028 and 22623.1028. Across the two patches, the updates are minor quality of life changes that address consistency issues and improve power plan recommendations. Be aware that the patches are still in preview at the time of writing, and there are some kinks left to work out.
It is unknown when the screen recorder will be officially launched, although it won’t be for a while. We asked Microsoft if they could at least give us an edit window, but a company representative told us that the company is keeping its lips shut for now.
