iOS 16.1 It hasn’t been available for a long time, but developers are already taking advantage of the support feature, Live Activities, by creating shortcut widgets on Redesigned lock screen on your Iphone – I’m sold.
For anyone in the dark, Live Activities is a widget placed at the bottom of the iOS 16.1 lock screen on iPhone, which can display live data, such as the status of a takeaway, or the live scores of a football match. However, developers are already discovering other ways to take advantage of this.
An app called lock launcher (Opens in a new tab)It can be downloaded for free from the App Store, but there is a one-time fee of $4.99 / £4.99 / AU$5.99 to unlock more features. The app previously allowed you to create home screen widgets which can let you access WiFi settings and apps from a favorites list. And with the advent of Live Activities in iOS 16.1, you can now do the same right on the lock screen.
A starting platform of possibilities
From starting WiFi and 5G settings to photos and websites, the widgets at the top of the lock screen are already freeing up for me. There have been countless times I had to go into WiFi settings to force it to be connected to my home network, but it always takes 4 clicks to get there. Now, it’s only one. But Lock Launcher goes above and beyond for this widget.
You can also change app icons and settings to help match any lock screen you’ve created, so if you want to change WhatsApp into a face mask, you can.
Another benefit if you own a file iPhone 14 Pro or 14 ProMax. You can also summon this tool within Dynamic Island wherever you are, so you can quickly access apps, settings, and more.
I really find this useful in my country iPhone 13 ProAnd it wasn’t even a week since iOS 16.1 came out. Again, it also makes me think about how it can help iPadPro screen, how many apps and settings I can add there, but I imagine I’ll wait for lock screen widgets to debut in iPadOS 17.
In the meantime, Lock Launcher has been saving me a lot of time, and if you’re trying to find ways to lower the taps to access your Bluetooth settings, this app will do it in droves.
