Air Fryer Baking Pudding Dessert Ingredients

I haven’t listed exact amounts for all of the ingredients below because it will depend on the number you serve, the size of the air fryer and any additional ingredients you add. The recipe and amounts below should be used as a guide.

  • Two slices of bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml) of milk
  • sugar

Due to the nature of this dessert, you can replace the eggs with a vegan alternative such as flaxseed mixed with water. You can also use applesauce or a thin banana puree to bind the ingredients together (and add extra flavour).

I made this pudding with oat milk and coconut milk—both types of milk work just as well, if not better, than the original.

I’ve also mixed vanilla into the milk and egg mixture, sprinkled the pudding with cinnamon, and even melted chocolate on top.

I used the Tower T17099 Vortx Eco Dual Basket Air Fryer, set at 175°C (350°F) for 15 minutes. This resulted in the formation of a crisp golden surface while also ensuring that the eggs were cooked through.

If you are adding the chocolate, I recommend either melting it separately and pouring it over the plate when serving, or adding the chocolate after the first five minutes to avoid seizing.

Step 1: Mix the eggs and milk together in a plate or bowl (make sure the plate/bowl is placed inside the pan). You can also use ramekins to make mini desserts.

Note: It’s possible to make this dessert in the same air fryer basket, but the mess and cooking time will vary.

Step 2: Sprinkle a little sugar into the milk and egg mixture.

Step 3: Cut the pieces of bread and soak them in the mixture of milk, eggs and sugar. Make sure the bread is completely submerged.

The fourth step: Sprinkle a little sugar on the plate (you can add more if you like sweet). I also like to add a pinch of cinnamon at this point.

Fifth step: Place the dish in the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes at 175°C (350°F).

Sixth step: Serve with ice cream, melted chocolate, and powdered sugar – or simply top it straight on.

Rule of thumb air fryer bread pudding recipe

For such a simple combination of ingredients, this dessert is quick to make and tastes delicious. It’s easy to substitute flavors based on your own taste, and it’s the perfect dessert for those times when you don’t have anything else sweet in the house but fancy dessert.

It’s also a great way to use up bread that’s past its best.

Presentation-wise, this dessert won’t win any awards. In addition, you have to make sure that you get the right milk-to-egg ratio to avoid making sweet scrambled eggs.

However, if you want a delicious, quick, affordable, and easy after-dinner treat—or even an afternoon—you can’t go wrong with this recipe.
