Frontier ends support for F1 Manager 2022 before F1 season ends

A few months after its release, Frontier is already ending support for F1 Manager 2022, the racing game management simulator.

Frontier’s first steps into motorsport simulation with F1 Manager 2022 is an impressively deep game, allowing us to Giving Lewis Hamilton the victory he deservesbut it turns out that it won’t get much support after release.

Just two months after the release of F1 Manager 2022, Frontier said in a last reddit That “the next update for F1 Manager 2022 will be the last significant update addressing feedback reported by the player, or suggested changes and additions. Any potential updates after that will be minor patches that do not significantly affect gameplay.”

Frontier says it is listening to “key reports and requests” from the community; However, these updates will appear in upcoming releases and not in F1 Manager 2022.

Frontier has tried to reassure fans by telling them that the interactions between the developers and the community won’t end there, and that they will always take the board’s advice and community criticism its way. However, this does not seem to quell the complaints.

One of the main criticisms of F1 Manager 2022 is that there are frustrating bugs, such as the overtaking problem, and there are also problems with the Drag Reduction system, a feature that allows cars to go significantly faster on straight sections of the track.

Players pointed out other issues in the comments under the Reddit ad, namely the inability to unlock their car when under vehicle security, issues with driver registration mid-season, and AI drivers struggling to keep up with the car’s evolution over the course of the season.

Each of these issues is pretty basic to the driving game, and so it’s frustrating not to add them until a future iteration of F1 Manager.

next season

Understandably, fans are less amused by the whole situation and, feeling down and let down, many took to the comments section to express their opinions.

A lot of frustration comes as the development team is moving into F1 Manager 2023. It appears that while the team is learning about issues in the game, they will only be addressed in future releases.

F1 Manager 2022 is Frontier Developments’ first foray into an annual release cycle, with previous games, such as Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster, being single releases that received support long after their release. It is the nature of this mode of release, as with FIFA and Madden, that the team needs to move to the new title, leaving the old version behind.

An additional advantage of this style of release is that the series can become stagnant, with only small updates between releases – As is the case with FIFA. The demand to keep up with the new sporting season and the pressure to tick that box will mean they won’t be able to take the time to tweak F1 Manager 2022 and make it even better. However, for some players, this may have caused them to be suspended from the series for good.
