Gustav Berna, a four-decade US Army veteran Chief Operating Officer At a modeling and simulation software developer Defcon AI.
His appointment comes less than two months after the incubator company Red Cell Partners launched the technology company to serve The national security and health care sectors.
Paul Silva, co-founder of Defcon, said in a statement Thursday that Berna’s previous leadership of Operation Warp Speed and Army Materiel Command will be “invaluable” as the company aims to help defense customers meet the challenges of logistics, mobility and sustainability.
Berna retired from military service with the rank of General in July 2021. Most recently, he served as Director of Operations for Operation Warp Speed, a public-private effort supporting the production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.
His previous assignments include Deputy Chief of Staff G-4, Commander of Joint Ordnance Command and Executive Officer of the Defense Logistics Agency.
