in more than 91 mobile phones (Opens in a new tab)There are some high quality renders showing what are supposed to be the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 (although of course we can’t be sure until they actually launch). From these photos, it doesn’t look like much will change in terms of design.
New is the olive green color option, shown in these renderings — the original OnePlus Buds Pro were available in matte black or glossy white. The design similarities extend to the charging case, which looks somewhat similar.
what are you expecting
We don’t know much about what the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will pack with them in terms of features and functionality, but this latest report suggests that Danish speaker maker Dynaudio has been involved in the production of the earphones.
The first OnePlus Buds Pro brought active noise cancellation with them, so it seems certain that the new pair will offer this feature again. Battery life, which is up to 24 hours with the OnePlus Buds Pro, can also be improved.
There haven’t been any OnePlus Buds Pro 2 launch date rumors we’ve come across, though since the original pair was announced in July 2021, now delayed successors — and it looks like early 2023 might be a good bet to get an official launch.
Analysis: lots and lots of options
There’s certainly no shortage of options when it comes to wireless earbuds: that’s great for consumers, but it means it can be difficult for manufacturers to make their products stand out. OnePlus already has it multiple editions from her Wireless headphones on come out.
Then of course we have to mention Apple, which has the most popular price points they are well covered with AirPods Pro 2 ($249 / £249 / AU$399) and AirPods 3 (from $169 / £179 / AU$279). These options are hard to pass up, especially for iPhone users.
Google has a premium Pixel Buds Pro ($199 / £179 / AU$299) and the cheapest Pixel Buds A-Series ($99 / £99.99 / AU$159), while Samsung is offering a version Galaxy Buds 2 ($149.99 / £139.99 / AU$219) and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro ($229 / £219 / AU$349).
We think OnePlus once again may be using price as its biggest selling point: the original OnePlus Buds Pro retailed for $149.99 / £139 when they launched, something about that would represent but their successors are in a good place in terms of affordability.
