Torkham Border Reopened – Afghan Refugee Repatriation Process Resumed

The Torkham border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has reopened, officially resuming the process of Afghan refugees’ repatriation. According to a report by Pakistan Tech News, the government has lifted the temporary restrictions and restored border operations to allow repatriation to proceed smoothly.

According to officials, the border closure was imposed a few days ago due to security and verification concerns. Now, after updating the system, authorities have ensured that the refugee identification and clearance process is made more efficient. Currently, hundreds of refugees are returning to Afghanistan from Torkham daily.

Government sources say this step has been taken on humanitarian grounds, and Pakistan wants the entire repatriation process to be completed orderly and safely. UNHCR and local law enforcement agencies are also present on site to ensure smooth coordination.

Analysts say this decision will further improve communication and border management between Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to an analysis by Pakistan Tech News, work is also underway to upgrade border technology and biometric verification systems to minimize future illegal crossings and delays.

The situation is currently under control and authorities have said that humanitarian assistance and monitoring are underway in parallel to ensure the safe return of refugees.
