The SIFC-backed initiative celebrated a key milestone towards the digital revolution of Pakistan, marking a huge leap forward in technological advancement for the country.
According to Pakistan Tech News, To further this initiative, SIFC, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, Google, Tech Valley, and the National Radio & Telecommunications Corporation, has launched Pakistan’s first Chromebook assembly line. This will boost the country’s digital economy.
This assembly line will produce 500,000 laptops every year, commencing in 2026, which will be provided to teachers and students at the grassroots level. This will go a long way in encouraging knowledge and technology.
Naib Wazir-e-Azam Ishaq Dar said on this occasion that the new policy under the regulatory framework aims to make Pakistan a “Regional Hub for Tech Development.” He expressed his vision for the progress of the country.
He further said that the strategic partnership between Google and Pakistan will prove to be helpful in training 100,000 developers in technological expertise, while under the AI Leaders Fellowship Program, 100 teams will be supported in the use of AI.
The Minister of IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, stated that $6.6 billion per year revenue potential by 2030 can be achieved through mobile apps, digital services, and e-commerce. She termed the establishment of a complete assembly line within a year and the announcement of a renowned tech company like Google establishing its presence in Pakistan as an important e-meeting.
She said that the presence of a renowned global company like Google in Pakistan is very important to the digital development and progress of the country.
