According to a report by Pakistan Tech News, the Federal Government has just confirmed that final decisions will be taken this week regarding the auction of 5G spectrum. This development may prove to be a major milestone for the telecom sector in Pakistan, where advanced connectivity and high-speed internet services are getting ready to enter their final preparatory phase.
According to the officials in the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, work is in process to finalize the pricing model, spectrum allocation, and rules for the participation of operators in the 5G auction. The government says the process will be transparent and friendly to investors so that even global telecom companies take interest in the digital market of Pakistan.
According to reports, the first phase of the 5G rollout will commence in major urban centers that also include Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, and then it will expand the service gradually all over the country. As the analysts believe, the introduction of 5G networks will increase innovation and efficiency in different sectors such as industrial automation, healthcare, education, and FinTech.
Officials further say that the government will keep spectrum pricing balanced so that telecom operators can easily invest and end-users get affordable packages.
Per the analysis by Pakistan Tech News, if these decisions materialize on time, then Pakistan could see its very first 5G rollout starting in early 2026 — a transformational leap so far as digital economy is concerned.
