The Witcher 3 next generation upgrade has been a long time coming, but it has finally received its long-awaited release date. Best of all? You will be able to play it soon.

The next generation update for The Witcher 3 will arrive on December 14, just in time for the Christmas period. Even better, the update will be free for anyone who owns the game PS4And the Xbox One And the computer.
The next generation update will include visual improvements such as ray tracing and faster load times thanks to the controllers’ fast internal solid-state drives. New content inspired by The Witcher’s Netflix The adaptation is here too, as well as all the previously released DLC including the two expansions.
Do not own PS5 or Xbox Series X | S? Do not be afraid, because the owners of the last generation are not far behind. CD Projekt RED confirmed that the base versions of the game, as well as the Nintendo Switch port, will receive “several additions and improvements.”

The Witcher 3 remains an excellent game seven years after its release, but so far, console players haven’t had the best experience. On PS4 and Xbox One, the 30fps frame rate cap prevented the game from playing as smoothly as possible on PC.
The game’s massive open world also didn’t play well with last generation systems. I remember doing my best to keep fast travel to an absolute minimum knowing that doing so could lead to some painfully slow loading times.
This is partly why I’m grateful for the improvements that existing consoles have brought to the table. Hopefully, long load times and horrible frame rates are now a thing of the past.
But I’m particularly keen to see The Witcher 3’s approach to ray tracing. CD Projekt RED has experience in technology, its implementation in Cyberpunk 2077 movie. However, it’s certainly not perfect there, as it has been relegated to local light shades so as to keep the tires relatively stable. The Witcher 3 is an old game, which means that hopefully, ray tracing won’t put too much strain on its performance when it hits current generation systems.
